I work on the ways in which war effects the health of civilians, and in that context, how multinational corporations, governments, and private institutions aid in human recovery. My first book Hunger in War and Peace: Women and Children in Germany, 1914-1924 examines the living standards of German noncombatants during and following WW1 and how different international aid groups responded to the challenge of providing food aid for millions of children in an atmosphere of post-war hostility.
